WELCOME TO THE OFFICE OF

Susan S. Smith, DMD
Corey Buring, DDS
Sellwood-Moreland, Milwaukie & Portland Dentists
Whole Health Dentistry is dedicated to improving the understanding of the oral-systemic link and its crucial role in determining the whole-body health outcomes of our patients. To that point, Dr. Smith and Dr. Buring are working together to “bridge the gap” between dentistry and internal medicine. To help drive this initiative forward, Mary Davidson, RDH, our dental hygienist, is devoting extra time to networking with medical providers in the Portland community to help encourage the integration of these two fields to the overall benefit of the health of our patients.

“ I was so excited to meet a holistic dentist. When I arrived at the clinic, I was so well received and cared for. Then another gal took me back to talk about most of my health problems. When I was in with the doctor, she came in and told the doctor about my basic health. Very impressed. Then while in the chair, I loved how Dr. Smith talked to me about many aspects that I might consider for my overall health. She also has a wonderful dental assistant. I loved Dr. Smith’s manner, caring attitude, positive nature and good smile. She ultimately helped me with some majorly important bad health issues. Thanks! ”

“ Dr. Smith recommended a frenectomy as part of my treatment plan for sleep problems and TMJ. From the moment I stood up after the frenectomy I could feel a complete transformation in my body. There was this feeling of relaxation from my mouth to my toes that I had never felt before. For 3-4 days after the procedure, I had to reorient myself to this new “loose” body every time I stood up. That subsided after a few days but was very fascinating and unexpected. For the first 2 weeks after the procedure, I slept constantly and would take naps, which I could never do before. My anxiety had reduced considerably. ”
“ It’s been a month since the procedure and my sleep and ability to nap are still much better than before, I feel more relaxed. I have fewer neck and shoulder problems, and my posture is noticeably better. The procedure and recovery weren’t too bad compared to the relief I’ve gotten. I recommend following Dr. Smith’s advice if she believes a frenectomy will help you. It’s certainly been an important piece of the puzzle for me. ”
